NEW ADDITION TO THE MILLER FAMILY

Her name is Lexi and she joined our family Saturday, November 22, 2008. She is only 7 weeks old and Madi loves her so much...but she's also afraid of her at times. Why? Lexi is our miniature schnauzer and Madi has to adjust to sharing her parents with her pet who also needs just as much attention as she does.

Lexi is so cute and lovable. We are trying to house train her. I will admit this house training thing is kicking my butt. I am tired of clean up poop!! Whew!!!

Who's Your President?

OBAMA!!!!

I asked Madi this question and she replies, "Daddy!"

**********************************************************************************
On November 4th 2008 just about every household was watching the elections. And around 11pm the news came roaring through the television, my cell phone, and house phone.....OBAMA IS THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!

Yes, We Did It!!!

I am so elated and look forward to the next 4 years under
President Barack Obama!

Happy Halloween

This is Madi's 2nd Halloween and she was dressed as a bumble bee. We went to Jesus Fest at First Baptist Church where she played games and won candy.

We had a good time and enjoyed the fellowship.

I think we will continue to take her to Fall Festivals instead of Trick-or-Treating. The weather is unpredictable and people are getting crazier by the minute.

Whateva happened to "Trick-or-Treat, Smell my feet, Give me something good to eat!"

Voted

I went and voted early yesterday. To my surprise the line was just about out the door. I did not let it discourage me, I got in line, filled out my paper work, and waited about 45 minutes to cast my HISTORICAL vote. Yay!!! I was very impressed with the system. The computerized ballot was very easy to use and they uploaded my precint information. Too Easy!

Church

Today we went to church at my place of work. I am temporarily a church admin but they call it "office manager." We really enjoyed the service and will be going back soon. Hubby said he liked it because people made us feel welcome and already a part of their church family. So I guess we'll be going back soon and that is a great thing. We definitely need to give the Lord more of our time.

Kmart shopping did not go as planned. We found 2 items for Madi's Christmas which came to a little over $60 so we paid for it straight out. We went to ToysRUs today just to get an idea of what else to get her. Shopping for a soon to be 2 year old was not fun. All the interesting and fun stuff starts at age 3 and up. I really wanted to get her a laptop because she is always on mine. But she is not ready for it. Who knows I may still get it.

Our agenda for today

We are going to Kmart to Christmas shop for Madi and hopefully start a lay-away. We are taking this route because with the economy being so crazy right now we do not want to charge a lot of things for Christmas. We will just pay it out over time with cash.

An acquaintance has invited me over for girls night tonight. We will just eat, drink, play board games and talk about whatever.

Hubby went out early this morning and played a few games of basketball. And he plans to get the flower bed ready for Fall/Winter.

As for Madi, she is running around the house doing her own thing as I type. She keeps coming back to the computer room with stuff. First it was a sock, then a sock and a shoe (I guess she thinks that she is going somewhere). Next, she felt like reading so she came back with a couple of books, then she picked up a pen to scribble (Thank the Lord that she does not know how to operate the push button on the pen yet!) Now she is under my computer desk pressing buttons on my printer. Oh Lord!

I really think she's going to be into computers like her father. She often crawls up on my compter chair and pecks away on my laptop, moves the mouse everywhere. Then she gets down and goes to her father's computer and TURNS IT ON, crawls up into his chair and types on his keyboard.

We definitely have to protect information on our computers because she will jack our stuff up.

Look who came to visit!!!

My parents came to visit us from Texas. Dad really wanted to drive but Mom and I talked him into flying. Plus, gas prices were getting ridiculous. They also brought my nephew, JB, who was born almost 2 weeks after Madi.

We were really excited to see them. We chilled around the house mostly and let the kiddos play and fight with other each other.....neither knows how to share. We all went to the Atlanta Aquarium prior to dropping my parents off at the airport. We all had a blast.
Madi cried when we left her grandparents and cousin at the airport. She really threw a fit, which brought a giant tear to my eye....okay, both eyes and I could not keep them from trickling down. I guess I was missing them as much as she was, is, and has. It does get a little lonely being in Georgia without our relatives.
We cannot wait for their return and we also welcome others!!

Last night's adventure

Well, first of all, I pick up my child from daycare yesterday only to find a knot the size of a door knob growing off the corner of her forehead. I am pissed and want answers. No one knows what happened to her. Well, I could see that she was not affected by it but it looked horrible. She looked like someone deliberately hit her in the head with a bat. She was not pretty.

The director and I examined her and came to the conclusion that Madi must have been bitten by an insect and had an allergic reaction to it. The huge bump had a small raised area inside it, which looked like an insect bite. No bruise or anything, so we ruled out the possibility of a beat down.

Anyway, we put an ice pack on it and gave her some benadryl before putting her to bed. I was praying that it went down tremendously over night because baby girl was looking a hot mess.

Around 3:30AM I hear a persistent cough that is driving me insane. I am a light sleeper and I swear since having a child I barely sleep at all. I always have one eye and one ear open with one leg out of the bed ready for take off. After 30 minutes of pure torture I finally bring myself to get out of bed to see why my child is all of sudden hacking up a lung. She had drainage in her throat that was making her cough consecutively.

I stayed up with her for about an hour...I do not know why. At 5AM I gave her some cough syrup and put her in bed with us. Her father lasted about 15 minutes through the coughing, got up and took her to our guest room. He knows that I cannot sleep through the coughing so he sleeps with her in another room. Well, it did not help much because I could still hear her and she was getting worse. Before we knew it, it was 6AM and his alarm went off and it meant that I would have to get up in about an hour. Lord NO! I cried.

I was so sleepy and irritated. I called the pediactric clinic for advice and my job to let them know that I would be late because I needed some rest. I got the approval to stay home or just come in later. Cool.

What was not cool was that Madi got up and was alert at 7:30AM and was not going back to sleep. I told her to lie down and she didn't. I pulled the covers over my head and she pulled them back. I could not believe how alert she was.

After fighting with her to get back to sleep I finally gave in and got up to start our day. I got her dressed, fed her, and got myself out of the house and off to work.

Here is the kicker......she did not cough at all since being awake! I could not believe that I missed almost 4 hours of sleep over her coughing and miraculously she's not coughing anymore. How convenient!

JOB SECURITY & ALL FEDERAL HOLIDAYS OBSERVED

I got a call today for the job on base. I accepted with hesitation. I know...."Why should you be hesitant?" Well, I have been wanting and waiting for MY JOB ON THE BASE. But this job is not the salary that I was aiming for. I was getting desperate and started applying for just about anything that would get me hired on the base. Well, I got my wish.

The only problem is that the job that I REALLY wanted closed yesterday and they should be sending out letters or calling for interviews in the next month or so. I would really like to be considered for this job because it is the perfect salary range for me and it entails human resources. However, I do not even know if they will select me for an interview, let alone hire me for the position. Dang....talk about being between a rock and a hard place. Crap!

Well, I am due to start my job on base Nov. 10th. I hope I hear something from the other job by then, that way I can make a decision prior to starting the other job. I really do not want to inconvenience anyone.

I guess it's true....."If you want to see God laugh at you, tell him your plans."

Oh well, all in all, it's still a blessing and I am very grateful. Either way, I will be working on the base and that is all that matters at this point.

Job searching....

With relocation comes job searching.

I tried the Stay Home Mom thing (enjoyed it) but I NEEDED an 8 to 5 to help me get through the day. Plus, I missed the socialization. Being in a new city called for new friends/acquaintances and I was not making any sitting at home.

So I got a job after staying home for over 3 months. I lasted longer than I thought and my husband was very proud of me (he told me often and it made me SMILE). Anything for my hunny bunnies (my husband and daughter). Anyway, I took a temp job just to get me out of the house and back to a normal routine.

I like the temp job because I am in great company. However, I would like to work in the field that I went to college for....management/human resources.

I've interviewed with the Georgia Department of Labor (9/22/08) but I have yet to hear back from them. They said I would get a letter regardless if I got the job or not. That's cool...but the wait is KILLING ME!

I interviewed for a civil service job today and it sounds promising. Now I will keep my cell phone on hand waiting to hear from them. I am on pins and needles!

I also applied to 4 other jobs on USAJOBS.com.

I hope to land one of these jobs because job security is a big issue in today's economy. Plus, I would love to work for the government or state because the benefits are great and they observe ALL the federal holidays.

PRAY FOR ME!!!

Our Journey thus far.....

At the time I met my future husband, I was in the military stationed in Puerto Rico. My tour was cut short and I relocated to San Antonio, TX. We married and resided in SA for almost 1.5 years. Shortly after my separation from the Navy, we moved to my hometown in Northeast Texas. We lived there for 3 years and we recently moved to Georgia for my husband's job.

We're TEXANS at heart but Georgians by location. We truly miss our family and friends and look forward to seeing ANYONE soon. We are just a plane ride away!

I am 1 up on my husband....my mom and dad came to visit along with my nephew, JB, just a few weeks ago.

Along came Madi

In February 2007, we became proud parents of a baby girl. She entered the world on her father's birthday and they have been inseparable ever since. To top it all off, she looks just like him. I must admit, I am a little jealous. The next one better take 90% of my genes. Boy or girl, I really don't care just as long as it looks like me. That's not too much to ask, Right?
In this picture, Madison looked like me. She was only a few days old. I will forever cherish this photo. She was a MiniMe.

Meet the Millers

My husband and I met in August of 2003 (at my brother's wedding) and married in September 2004. Why did I marry him? He was the closest thing to my "Ideal Man" and I could not gamble on that. So I cashed in and I am enjoying my winnings!
