Family trip to DC (last week in Aug)

Kendrick had to do some training in the DC area for a week and Madi and I got to tag along. It was a nice family getaway and the weather was nice, mostly in the mid-80's.

We drove him to training every morning, ate breakfast with him, and returned to eat lunch. While he was in class, Madi and I explored the area and visited 2 malls. One had a nice play area for her to hang out with children her age. We went to the movies Tuesday night and to our surprise the tickets were $10 each, even for Madi, who is 3 years old. The popcorn and drink was an additional $15. We spent almost $50 on that outing and it did not include dinner. Thank God we were just visiting!

Wednesday evening, we went to Georgetown to get us some DC Cupcakes! The line was out the door and around the corner by the time we received our cupcakes. We purchased half a dozen which consisted of Lemon Berry, Carrot Cake, Red Velvet, Hazelnut Chocolate, and a Chocolate & Vanilla Cupcake. The icing was amazingly light and smooth. I am not a huge fan of icing. I usually desire just a thin layer on my cake/cupcake but these Sisters know what they are doing when it comes to icing. The icing MADE the cupcake....YUMMY!!!

Thursday night we went to a restaurant named, Chima. It's a Brazilian Steakhouse that serves up all kinds of meats on swords. The waiters all had on Brazilian attire and they were moving super fast with those meats, offering parmesan crusted pork loin, filet mignon, swordfish, and bacon-wrapped chicken to name a few. The experience was unforgettable! You definitely need to have an appetite for protein when you dine at Chima.

Friday, we caught the Metro to the Smithsonian area. We or should I say "I" had no idea how much walking we were about to do. The sun was beaming and everything was so far away...plenty in between but still a walk to the places that we really wanted to see. We took photos along the way and as we stopped in front of the Capital, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument. The view was simply breath-taking. You cannot see and do everything in one day. There were several parts of the Smithsonian that we did not get to visit. Hopefully, we will get to return to DC in the near future to complete our exploration.

Just enjoying you!

At 19 weeks, "Buddy" has started moving a lot and it is so comforting. He is always on my mind. I mean, how can I forget about him as he tumbles inside my belly.

I went up into our attic today to get some of Madi's baby items down for "Buddy". Gosh, we have quite a few things like her old swing, bouncer, bassinet, and infant car seat. As I touched each item they brought back sweet memories of my baby girl. My heart smiled as it shared the warmth of our attic. The moment was short lived because I quickly had to get to the AC. Whew! It is hot enough to cook a full course meal in our attic. Kendrick came to the rescue and pulled everything down for me. I literally cannot wait to go through each of Madi's baby items to prepare them for Therren. I am feeling a kid in a candy store and I just had to share!

Retail Therapy while waiting for Baby

Okay, since finding out that we are expecting a Boy, I have had a major itch to buy something gender related! So tonight we stopped at Kohl's just to check out their baby stuff. The outfits were super cute or should I say "handsome." ( I gotta remind myself of the proper terminology when referring to the male gender....he-he.)

We found a few items on the clearance rack that were must haves! The price was just right so I could not leave the store without my Baby Boy's summer clothes. Kendrick picked out 1 outfit and I chose 2 more. We ended up spending less than $10 for all three outfits. How sweet is that!?

I think I have started something....I will be shopping clearance for the next couple of months. Babies can never have enough, right?

One of Each....We are Complete!

Kendrick and I visited First Glimpse in Macon today. I think we were both anxious to find out if "Buddy" was actually a Boy or Girl.

Madison said that she was having a Baby Brother since Day One of our pregnancy. I so wanted to believe her (yes, my 3 year old) so I hung on her every word. I had already named him and Madi began to call him by his name as well. When I looked for crib bedding online, I only looked at boy colors (blue, green, orange, and brown). I was a true believer that this was a Boy!

I rarely entertained the thought of it possibly being another Girl. How silly of me, right? I just started thinking of Girl names 2 weeks ago. I guess reality was beginning to set in so I tried to give it some thought. Ummmm...that didn't last long. I was back to my BOY name and picturing him as a part of our family. HE is all I could see. Kendrick also reassured me that "Buddy" was a boy. He says he just felt like it was.

Well "Buddy" you are definitely a BOY, a BROTHER, and my SON!

p.s. WE ARE DONE! : )

Reality Strikes and Bites

Well, in prepartion for Baby #2, we have moved Madi from her convertible crib to a Big Girl's Bed. We went to Wally World and purchased her pink Princess bedding to make her feel extra special about her transition. She totally bought into it and couldn't wait to jump beneath her covers.

After tucking her in, I sat on the side of her bed and just looked at her. There she laid with a big smile upon her face. I couldn't help but notice how her pillow swallowed her little pea-sized head. She looked up at me and said with a very proud smile, "GOOD NIGHT, MOMMY!"

It was in that moment that reality struck me hard. My baby girl wasn't a baby anymore. She is definitely growing up and looks to be very excited about it. I held back a tear and said, "Good night, Baby. I love you!"

I went to bed with a little sadness in my heart that she is moving on and truly making room for Baby. Is there really enough love to SHARE?

Oh...We've Got To Catch Up!!!!!

OMG! A whole year and a half has passed! This blogging thing has totally gotten away from me. Gosh, so much has happened and I honestly cannot fill in all the blanks but I will try my best.

~April 2009~

I was promoted to a new government job with CE. I am currently still there. Kendrick and I also decided it was time to make Madison a big sister. All caution has been thrown to the wind. We vacated to Panama City Beach, FL for a Jazz Festival and had a wonderful time. Madi enjoyed every minute of it. She loves music and loves to dance. It was a nice family getaway.

~June 2009~

I started pursuing my MBA with the University of Phoenix ONLINE. This was a major step for me because I never really thought about furthering my education past my BS. But I figured, if I want to advance within civil service, I better get my masters out of the way. So far it has not been easy and it has been quite an adjustment. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?!?!?

~August 2009~

Well, my 30th Birthday is here and it's time to celebrate! A few of our friends met us at LaRouge for a night of Jazz entertainment and dancing. It was a lovely evening....Thanks to Kendrick!

~September 2009~

Celebrating 5 years of marital bliss! We took another family vacation to St. Augustine, FL. It's a nice little historic town with a beautiful view of nature's works of art. Still working on #2 and getting discourage. Planning to go see the Dr. for help. Madison is OFFICIALLY potty-trained, YAY! We are extremely proud of her.

~November 2009~

The Dr. has put me on Metformin (a diabetic drug) to help regulate my system and get us on the road for possible conception. Clomid is later added to help with ovulation.

~December 2009~

We are headed to Houston to spend Christmas with Kendrick's family. We all go to Kevin's and Jackie's in Wharton to see their new house. Madi gets to see her PawPaw and Gammy B and love on them. It was good to spend the holidays with family. Lots of good food and treats as well.

~January 2010~

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Man, 2009 flew by. We chilled with our neighbors and played games with the kids to ring in the New Year. Kenly Arie Willis is born, January 15th. Congrats to Rico and Qiana! After taking Clomid with no avail, I give up on the Dr.'s help and also find out that our insurance does not cover fertility treatment. : (

~February 2010~

Kendrick turns the BIG 30! I threw him a surprise birthday celebration. We had game night at our house and I invited some of our friends over for a night of fun-filled conversation and games. Kendrick was totally suprised! Everyone brought a dish and we shared ice cream and cake with the Birthday Boy. Madi celebrated her 3rd birthday with a Princess and the Frog themed party. We met up with some of her friends at Johnny G's for entertainment. I received a recommendation to assist with conception from a friend on BabyFit. She told me to try Maca Root, a natural herb that regulates your hormones and restores your cycle. What the heck, I'll try it. What do I have to lose? Wow, it really does restore your cycle! I guess I will stick with this...Maca Root.

~April 2010~

I've been pee-ing on a stick left and right because AF is late......super late! After 4 weeks and no positive test, I take a medication to bring on AF. We get sad news, Kendrick's father has passed and we spend a week in Texas with family. We also get to meet my niece, Kenly, for the 1st time. She's beautiful and loves to eat. Upon our return to Georgia, I notice that AF is still not here, even after taking the Rx to bring it on. Weird! I have one more test left so I use it before preparing for work. OMG! 2 PINK LINES! After a whole year of trying, we are finally get the results we have been praying for! The timing .....Umm...we will not get into that. I have mixed emotions now and don't know how to feel given the past week's events.

~July 31, 2010 (we are up to date...finally)~

Well, I am 18 weeks along in this pregnancy and it has been waaaaaay different from my pregnancy with Madison. As a matter of fact, it has had me in the dumps. No morning sickness but everything else from indigestion, sour stomach, and acid reflux to constipation. It has affected my appetite, I have lost a few pounds, and I am walking around like a zombie. JUST SICK! How could such a miraculous thing make you feel like CRAP!? Lord, I thank you for my blessing to mother another child but OMG! As I quickly approach my 5th month, things are getting better. Madison is SUPER EXCITED about becoming a big sister. She tells me that she has a baby brother in my tummy and loves on my belly regularly. I guess we will find out the gender at the end of August or the beginning of September. I am so looking forward to it. : ) Baby's Due Date is January 3rd, 2011 or some time during the last week of December 2010.
